Kasha Yang

Kasha Yang and ChinaMedic have been based in De Baarsjes Amsterdam West on the Postjesweg for more than 15 years. She started her practice in 2003 together with her husband Jian Zhang.

The name ChinaMedic and the characters in the logo refer both to Kasha’s roots in Chinese culture as to the traditional medicine she uses. In addition to being an acupuncturist and herbalist, Kasha is trained as anesthesiologist (China) and orthomolecular therapist.

She was introduced to the work field of healthcare from the day she was born as her father was a surgeon and orthopedist, and her sister a nurse. As a little girl, she was able to experience for herself how acupuncture helped her to get well as she suffered with long-term sinus infections. As of that moment she has been fascinated by the age-old knowledge and application of acupuncture and how its functioning makes a valuable contribution to the healing of the human body. She later went on to study medicine and acupuncture.

Abdominal Acupuncture

Kasha learned abdominal acupuncture from Dr. Bo-The discoverer of abdominal acupuncture.

Although acupuncture has always played an important role in her life, it wasn’t until after her arrival in the Netherlands that it all fell into place for Kasha. She realized that acupuncture was and is her passion, and decided then and there to make acupuncture her life’s path and start ChinaMedic. During the last 10 to 15 years she has specialized as an acupuncturist in treating pain ailments with the unique “ChinaMedic Approach.”

At ChinaMedic she treats different kinds of pain related ailments, such as joint pain, nerve pain and muscle pain. Furthermore she treats as well fertility problems and tinnitus. The combined work experience as an anesthesiologist and acupuncturist, has convinced her that a balanced relationship between Western and Chinese medicine can only benefit the patient.

The ChinaMedic creed: “Let us take care of helping you resolve your suffering and pain. From now on you are no longer alone, because we stand by your side.”

Kasha’s patients have fondly been calling her ‘Miss Prikkie’ for years. And Kasha uses this nickname on Facebook and Twitter to inform people as much as possible about ChinaMedic and Chinese medicine.

Kasha Yang is a member of the Dutch Association for Acupuncture and the only one in the Netherlands of the China Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Abdominal Acupuncture Committee. She speaks fluent Dutch, English and Chinese.

Previously she graduated from the University of Groningen as a lawyer specializing in civil law. An as she had the option to continue her studies to get a Ph.D., she however didn’t really feel happy in doing so. When she came into contact with Chinese medicine, she a whole new way of living a peaceful and happy life opened up to her. Traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture have become her life and taught her to reconnect with herself and nature, as well as to respect and follow the course of nature. She feels it as her calling to help other people through the application of Traditional Chinese Medicine. As a certified acupuncturist, she is a member of the professional association Zhong.

On a daily basis she still feels immensely grateful for the change that TCM and acupuncture have brought her and is happy to help you with acupuncture to bring on a positive change in your health and life.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly can acupuncture help with?

Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to remedy and improve a wide range of diseases and complaints. For an acupuncturist, the approach is simple: energy flows or it doesn't flow. The symptoms show where there may be a blockage in the body and this affects the rest of the body. In addition, the acupuncturist is about activating the self-healing capacity of the body. This makes acupuncture applicable to both sleep disorders and skin problems, allergies, addictions, depression, menopausal symptoms, burnout, rsi and so on. If you want to know how far acupuncture can help you, make an appointment for a 1st consultation and have yourself fully examined. The acupuncturist can then immediately tell you what we can do for you.

How many times do I have to come?

To give you a reliable and accurate estimate of the number of treatments you need, it is best to discuss this with your acupuncturist. If you have never been to an acupuncturist, you can make an appointment for a first consultation with possible treatment. The acupuncturist can then give you an estimate based on your complaints and the consultation.

Is acupuncture painful?

We use extra-thin needles for Abdominal Acupuncture. The punctures are hardly noticeable. People sometimes don't even feel where they are. Occasionally, someone may perceive a strange feeling, also described as nagging, numb, upset or painful. This feeling is often over.

The LaserNeedle that we often use in combination with puncturing needles is invasive and you don't feel it. The LaserNeedle is ideally suited for those who are afraid of needles and small children.

What does an acupuncture treatment cost?

A 1st consultation with subsequent treatment costs € 75.00. Each follow-up treatment costs € 60.00. ChinaMedic is affiliated with the NVA (Dutch Association of Acupuncture) and treatment is reimbursed by most insurers in the supplementary. It is advisable to contact your insurer what exactly this means for you. For a full price list of all our treatments CLICK HERE
