Acupuncture in Fertility and IVF
Men and women are increasingly experiencing difficulties in getting children. Sometimes it depends on the woman, sometimes on the man and in some cases on both.
There are several reasons why women can experience infertility. It may be due to the natural process of aging, disease in the reproductive area or a cause unknown to mainstream medicine.
It is said that at the age of 40 the function of ovaries starts to diminish, making it more difficult for most women to get pregnant. As the estrogen and progesterone level drops, problems can occur with the implantation of the embryo. The fallopian tubes may be blocked due to infection or endometriosis, which results in the sperm not being able fertilize the egg. Also, myomas may have developed in the uterus, that may block the fallopian tubes. In addition, vaginal infection can also play a role in infertility due to excessive mucous deposits.
Infertility complaints in men have to do with the quantity or quality of the sperm or a combination thereof. The reduction in quantity or quality can be caused by infections, illness or external environmental factors. It is especially important for men to have the right diet so they are able to deliver high-quality sperm.

How can acupuncture help with infertility?
In acupuncture and Chinese medicine, there is a different view point from regular medicine as for the treatment for infertility. It is primarily the kidney energy that is important for a good functioning fertility. In addition, other organs, such as heart, liver and spleen can play an important part in not getting pregnant easily. The treatment plan is therefore tailor made for your specific situation.
At ChinaMedic we often apply abdominal acupuncture. The painless abdominal acupuncture is particularly effective in tackling not only the gynecological problem of infertility, but also the underlying disease such as endometriosis or PCOS. In women, the goal of treatment is to improve blood circulation in the pelvis, nourish kidney energy, and remove the local energy block or blood block. In men, in addition to stimulating kidney energy, the treatment is aimed at strengthening the spleen and often also the liver. As mentioned before, nutrition is an important point of attention for men.
How can acupuncture help with IVF?
With IVF support we often start two months or half a year before the start of the IVF schedule. In addition, acupuncture is regularly applied during the IVF procedure for acupuncture, adjusted to the IVF schedule. The acupuncturist will compile a treatment schedule with you. In both cases we also support you with nutritional advice and, if necessary, herbal therapy. The ChinaMedic Approach with abdominal acupuncture significantly increases the chance of pregnancy both by means of natural fertilization as IUI or IVF. With this treatment method, a large number of clients have successfully become mothers and fathers.
